Nambucca

<p>Just an hour or so down the road from Bellingen, and back on the ocean is my next stop, Nambucca Heads where the river estuary is large and lovely. There is an 18 hole golf course on the island in the river and a bunch of tennis courts right by hotel, so with fishing this is a sports-persons paradise. This area had cedar forests which were logged off in the late 1800's by "fellers". I have booked two nights in a bed &; breakfast located in an historic old lodge, renovated of course. It is such a luxury to have a well appointed room and bath to myself! Hostels are great for meeting interesting people, finding out about local area as well as other places they have traveled, but they are usually noisy and often people's things are everywhere. I can't believe the number of shoes some women carry. The morning bird crys are amazing. There is one that sounds like an electronic whip cracking, and the kookaburra sounds like it is laughting. And great many bats, the huge flying foxes take off in the evening. It is raining this morning, but when it lets up there is an arboretum across the road I will go see. Have to check out the palms. I have a fair first draft of my palm poster. I just turned this piece of paper over to use the back for second draft and now the second morning it is almost done.
