Jaipur India Part One

After one night in Agar we moved on to Jaipur with the same crazy traffic and stops at obscure little roadside state inspections. The driver would take all his paperwork inside and people would try, unsuccessfully, to sell me stuff through the windows. The entrance to Jaipur through a narrow pass and protective walls is very dramatic. This is a somewhat "planned" city, but still very complex. My hotel for two nights was in the center of the city, but never knew where I was. I believe the hotel was named the Laxmi Palace, very nice hotel and amazingly quiet street, it's the picture with the wall with shrubs and arches. I felt okay there walking out in the evening. Of course I saw all the impressive sites: palaces, forts, markets. But what impressed me the most was the Jantar Mantar Observatory which is a large astrological site with huge sundials and celestial location constructs. I thought I understood while I was there reading the signs, but at this point all I can say is look it up on the Internet. The picture of two people is the image used on the Gemini structure. Jantar Mantar is a work of art as well as science.
